Press Release: Commonwealth Fashion Council (CFC) achieves Commonwealth Accreditation from the Commonwealth Secretariats’ Board of Governors

The CFC is now an accredited Commonwealth organisation and has been acknowledged formally by the Board of Governors within the Commonwealth Secretariat. The CFC falls under the category ‘Civil Society Organisations’.

The Commonwealth had until now, no accredited fashion body to develop the Commonwealth Fashion Industries, which as a market is worth £120 billion GBP ($150 billion USD).

The CFC brings 25 fashion councils and weeks together from across our Commonwealth. We construct programmes to develop the industries, programmes focussing on education, development, trade, youth and gender empowerment.

The Commonwealth has over 80 accredited organisations across 52 Commonwealth countries. Those organisations fall across diverse sectors such as: education, health, finance, archiving, rule of law, women’s development and youth empowerment to name a few.

The opportunities for the CFC is to bring together fashion industries and Commonwealth governments at such events as the up and coming Commonwealth Summit, happening April 2018 in London. This presents the environment to submit papers, influence agendas and to encourage what is most needed within the global fashion sector; which are cross regional policies, agreements and implementation.

The Commonwealth is a cosmos of 52 nations across Africa, Asia, Europe, Caribbean, Pacific and Americas; all regions covered include some of the largest and smallest industries on the planet. This enables a diverse range of industries the opportunity to come together and collectively start a conversation to address issues.

The CFC now facilitates that space so that like-minded people, industries and nations can come together.

The CFC will now continue to work on our programmes and will also continue our work with the Commonwealth governments to officially launch April 2018 to coincide with the Commonwealth Summit.
